The CRA Approach: Concrete, Representational, Abstract

We use the Concrete-Representational-Abstract method — the gold standard for building deep mathematical understanding, especially for students with dyscalculia or math anxiety.

Concrete

Students begin by manipulating physical objects — blocks, counters, fraction tiles — to build a tactile, real-world understanding of math concepts before numbers appear.

Representational

Next, students draw pictures or diagrams to represent the same concepts. This bridges the gap between hands-on learning and abstract symbolic math.

Abstract

Finally, students work with standard numerals and symbols. Because they've built understanding from the ground up, abstraction clicks — it's not memorization, it's insight.

Dyscalculia Intervention

Often called "number dyslexia," dyscalculia affects 3–7% of people. We provide structured, diagnostic math intervention targeting number sense, counting, and arithmetic — creating real, lasting breakthroughs.

Formal Vocabulary

Math has its own language. We explicitly teach mathematical vocabulary so students can read word problems, follow directions, and communicate their thinking clearly.

Fluency through Play

Fact fluency is built through games, puzzles, and engaging practice — not rote drilling. Students develop speed and accuracy while actually enjoying math.

Math Topics We Cover

We offer comprehensive math tutoring across all levels. Whether your child needs to master basic number concepts or conquer AP Calculus, we build a tailored plan that works.

Math Tutoring FAQ

Dyscalculia is a learning difference affecting number sense, arithmetic, and math reasoning — similar to how dyslexia affects reading. Yes, we specialize in dyscalculia intervention using structured, multisensory methods proven to create real progress.
Absolutely. We teach students to decode math language, identify key information, and apply the right strategy. Word problem fluency is a core part of our curriculum.
Yes. We tutor students through Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Trigonometry, and Statistics — including AP and college-level coursework.
We create a low-pressure, success-oriented environment where mistakes are learning tools. By building from concrete understanding, students gain genuine confidence rather than just memorizing procedures.
Most students show noticeable growth within 6–8 weeks of consistent instruction. Early wins — even small ones — build the confidence that accelerates further progress.
